William Kenneth “Ken” Hymel passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at his residence in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Ken was born on Friday, September, 6, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Ken was a loving and hardworking man. He worked as a chef and salesman in the food industry. His family said “Ken could sell ice to an Eskimo and have a standing order for next month”. He adored his wife, his daughter, and his family, especially the children. Being a big kid at heart, he enjoyed playing and having fun with the kids. He loved entertaining which includes cooking and feeding his family and friends. He also loved animals including his own fur babies.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Audrey Marks Hymel and his loving daughter, Mary Margaret Hymel. His sister, Frances Dunaway and her children and grandchildren, his almost-sister Gloria Normand, his nieces, nephews, and great nieces, Liz and Mike Bordelon, Matthew, Karen and KayLee Voorhies, and Andy, Rikki, Coy and Kylar Deaville, Cathy, BJ, Louie, Danielle, Molly, Bruce, Sophie, and Gracie Normand and Buddy, and dear friends, LoLo DeSalvo and Sheila Grisham.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Smith Hymel and sister, Vera Hymel and his best friend in fun and laughter, Steve Normand.
In accordance with Ken's wishes, there will be no services. Ken's family and friends choose to celebrate him and his vivacious life every day.
