Virgil Edward Williams passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at his camp on Goat Island Canal in Akers, Louisiana, at the age of 75. He was born on Monday, October 4, 1948, in Independence, Louisiana to Austin Andrew Williams, Sr. and Willie Viola Ard Williams. He was a lifelong resident of Ponchatoula. He loved living on the water in his houseboat as much as he loved his family. Virgil outlived numerous family members but left behind so many to cherish his memory.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Millie Joiner Williams; children, Brett Allen Williams, Starlet Williams, Melissa Jarrell, and Kevin Jarrell; siblings, Marie Rodriguez, Ivy Williams, and Tracey Williams Cassell; grandchildren, Sage and Lane Williams, Kristal Ricker, Brentlee and Tailynn Galladora, Braxton Stromeyer, Christian, Kimberly, Dakota, Marlee, and Cameron, Destine Williams, Xanolla Jarrell, and Devin Saxon. He was an amazing uncle to all his nieces and nephews, who will dearly miss him. He is also survived by many family members and friends.
Preceded in death by his children, Eddie Creel, Huey Williams, and Allen Williams; siblings, Idell Williams Crawford, Mamie Williams Jenkins, Betty Williams Karasinski, Doris Williams Carter, Diane Williams Hollie, John David Williams, Austin Williams, Jr., and William “Bill” Williams; and granddaughter, Ashley Ricker.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. The Celebration of Virgil’s Life will follow at 6:00 pm.
