Victoria Gaude Rogers, a woman of distinguished grace and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully at her residence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Monday, April 20, 2026. Born on Tuesday, January 6, 1942, Victoria’s life was marked by a vibrant spirit and a profound commitment to her community, family, and faith.
A beloved figure in the State of Louisiana’s public service, Victoria retired after years of dedicated work that reflected her tireless devotion to the people around her. Her outgoing nature and love of sports painted a portrait of a woman who embraced life with enthusiasm and warmth, touching all who knew her with her joyful presence.
Victoria’s spiritual journey was central to her identity. She was a devout Catholic, an active member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church where she grew up in Hammond, Louisiana, and a devoted member of Rosaryville. One of her proudest accomplishments was her commitment to the Third Order of Saint Dominic, or the Lay Dominicans, through which she lived out Dominican spirituality with deep reverence and devotion in her daily life.
Her life was a tapestry woven with the threads of celebrated faith, heartfelt engagement with her community, and the enduring bonds of family. Victoria was preceded in death by her cherished husband Ras Rogers and her beloved son Brent F. Rogers. She also mourned the loss of her parents, Susie Ross and Henry A. Gaude, and a host of siblings, including brothers Henry J. Gaude, Joseph A. Gaude, Paul F. Gaude, and Eugene S. Gaude, as well as sisters Williamina G. Rome, Henrietta G. Schafer, Lorraine G. Drozd, Marie G. Jones, Sylvia G. Wiltz, Juliette Gaude, Juanita Gaude, Susie Gaude, and Theresa Gaude.
Though she faced profound losses, Victoria is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and dear friends who carry forward her legacy of love, strength, and faith. These treasured relationships stand as a testament to the rich and benevolent life she led.
The community is invited to honor Victoria with a visitation at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 600 N Oak St in Hammond, LA 70401, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Her final resting place will be at Green Lawn Cemetery.
Victoria’s passing marks the conclusion of a life lived with remarkable purpose and fervor. Her memory will endure in the hearts of those privileged to have known her and in the continued rhythms of the community she so loved. In remembering Victoria Gaude Rogers, we celebrate a soul whose light shone brightly, a woman whose legacy will remain ever luminous.
