Together they forged a lasting bond founded on love, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion.
With heavy hearts and grateful spirits, the family of Vendena Martinez Williams announce her peaceful passing on Monday, July 13, 2026, in Franklinton, Louisiana. Vendena slipped away gently in her sleep at Fair City Nursing Home, embracing eternal rest at the remarkable age of 94 years.
Born on Friday, January 8, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Vendena’s journey began amid the unique rhythms and soulful spirit of her beloved birthplace. The daughter of Agnes Walker and John Martinez, Sr., she was raised with deep-rooted values, a generous heart, and a sense of courage that would follow her all through her life. She grew up under the loving guidance of her parents, who preceded her in death, undoubtedly shaping her gentle kindness and steadfast resilience.
Vendena’s heart found its home in the arms of her late husband, Jeffery Scott Williams. Together they forged a lasting bond founded on love, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion. Theirs was a partnership defined by quiet strength and the joys and trials of family life—a remarkable foundation for the generations that followed.
She was the proud mother to her daughter, Lena T Goslee (Brian), and to her sons, Dennis C Taylor, Jr. (Anna), Anthony Taylor, and Robert Taylor. In each of them, her generosity, humor, and nurturing wisdom continue to thrive, passed lovingly from one generation to the next.
May her journey onward be as peaceful as the life she modeled for all her loved ones.
To her eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren—Vendena was a gentle light, a steady hand, and a source of immense pride and affection. Their lives are richer for the blessing of her guidance and love, and memories of her gentleness and encouragement will follow them always.
Though her absence brings sorrow, her family and friends remain united by gratitude for her century-spanning legacy—a life that enriched and uplifted, never seeking recognition, but always giving. Vendena’s love endures in the laughter of descendants, in stories told beside Sunday dinners, and in the gentle guiding touch that will be missed but never forgotten.
As Vendena's families reflect on her life, they hold close the many memories she leaves behind—reminders of her grace, devotion, and generous heart. May her journey onward be as peaceful as the life she modeled for all her loved ones.
There will be a private family service at the Military Cemetery, where she and her late husband of 35 years will be laid to rest. Her family cherishes your prayers, thoughts, and remembrances as they prepare to celebrate the precious memories and enduring legacy of their beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
