Shirley Mae Brunies passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 95. She was born on Monday, April 15, 1929, in Harvey, Louisiana and resided in Ponchatoula since 1965 where she raised her family.
Shirley was employed for many years as a legal secretary for Judge Ernest G. Drake, Jr. Her favorite job was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Even as a very soft-spoken lady, she knew how to rule the roost. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Shirley is survived by her beloved children, Lynette A. Caldwell (Larry), David J. Brunies (Kelley), and Laure G. Winburn (Jimmy). Also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Leo D. Brunies; twin boys, Kenneth Paul Brunies and Keith Michael Brunies; mother and stepfather, Gladys and Joseph Cavaretta; and father, Sidney Dupre.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Service at Macedonia Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Pumpkin Center, 40228 Macedonia Road, Hammond, Louisiana 70403 on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 10:00 am until the service begins at 12:00 pm.
Interment will follow in Macedonia Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
