Robert Lawrence Oalmann

Robert “Robbie” Lawrence Oalmann passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 13, 2023 in St. Bernard, Louisiana, at the age of 85.  He was born on Wednesday, August 10, 1938 in New Orleans and resided in St. Bernard.  Robbie was a devout Catholic and eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He met Rita, the love of his life, at the age of 17 and they spent 65 years together, completely “in love”.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Rita Williams Oalmann; his daughters, Patricia Oalmann Espiritu and Laurie Oalmann Menesses (Louis, Jr.); brother, Gerald Oalmann; grandchildren, Esteban Robert Espiritu (Ariel), Emily Espiritu Melerine (Chris), Macie Menesses Sullivan (Andrew), and Evan Robert Menesses (Karlie); great grandchildren, Aliyah Espiritu, Hayden Espiritu, Hanna Espiritu, Noah Espiritu, Kobi Shay Melerine. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Agnes Luquet Oalmann and Joseph William Oalmann, Sr.; siblings, Louis Oalmann, Earl Oalmann, Sr., Mae Oalmann Schultz, Agnes Oalmann Schule, Joseph Oalmann, Harold Oalmann, and Raymond Oalmann.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2621 Colonial Blvd., Violet, Louisiana 70092 on Friday, October 20, 2023  at 11:00 am.  The visitation will be held on Friday morning at the church from 9:30 am until the Mass begins at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in the mausoleum of St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, St. Bernard, Louisiana.
