Robert Andrew Joseph

Robert Andrew Joseph passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the age of 64.  He was born on Monday, October 5, 1959, into a large and loving family in Metairie headed up by his parents John Girod and Marion Burdett Joseph.  Most folks did not know him by Robert, he was known as Red, Uncle Red, RedPop, Redfish and a slew of other monikers.  His parents described him as a modern-day Huck Finn, born 100 years too late.

Red was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marion Joseph; brothers, Thomas and Kenny; and sisters, Kathleen and Peggy.

He is survived by his siblings, Jackie Joseph Laurendine (Dale), Paul, Susan Snook (Tom) and Laura Buhler (Blair).  He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

Red was a very simple and humble man who flourished in the outdoors.  He was passionate about all things in nature, but nothing trumped his love for shrimp and plenty of ice.  He also loved to drive, anything and everything.  He made that his career; hauling rock, gravel, sand, you name it.  People gravitated towards Red.  He was so special, one of a kind.  His personality was kind, and his heart was loving.  A loyal man.  An honorable man.  A dependable man.  He will be missed by so many.

In the homestretch, he was cared for by his campmates: nephew, Kyle Joseph; sister, Jackie Joseph; niece, Amanda Roublau; longtime companion, Janet Schneider; and best podna, Michael Kospelich.  We love you, Red.

Please join Red's Family at Sunset on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, at 22145 Chef Menteur Highway, New Orleans, LA, as Red sets sail on his final voyage down Chef Pass in a bayou Viking ship.
