Robert E. Jenkins, Sr.

Robert E. “Bob” Jenkins, Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025 at his residence in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 79. He was born on Thursday, February 28, 1946 in Reedville, Virginia to Nellie and Carroll Jenkins.

Bob proudly served in the United States Army and is a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He and his family relocated to Ponchatoula in 1984 to follow a career in the Menhaden Fishing Industry. Bob was a man of many talents. His hobbies included carpentry, wood carving, wood burning, drawing, pencil sketch art, and he even produced beautiful, counted cross-stitch pieces, many wooden boat models, furniture pieces, and a wooden kayak.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sandra C. Jenkins; daughter, Terry J. Reese; son, Robert E. “Rob” Jenkins, Jr.; and grandchildren, Kaleb, Ashlyn, Heather, and Robert “Buddy”.  Also survived by many family members and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Nellie J. and Carroll E. Jenkins; brother, William H. “Billy” Jenkins; and daughter-in-law, Wendy Lee Jenkins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Bob’s Life in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Saturday, September 6, 2025 beginning at 10:00 am. The celebration will conclude with Funeral Honors at 11:30 am provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 109.
