Rick Sutton

Rick Sutton passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025 at his residence in Slidell, Louisiana, at the age of 72.  He was born on Wednesday, October 8, 1952 in Morristown, New Jersey.

Throughout his time in Louisiana, Rick was a big part of Slidell and the surrounding communities.  He owned a local dive shop that taught countless people the wonders of scuba diving.  His 30+ year dedication to teaching ensures a lasting legacy to the people instructed by him.  He also worked with many agencies across St. Tammany Parish teaching rescue diving and advanced training to first responders.

As a father, Rick was loving and always ready to share his passions with his children.  He leaves a tradition of exploration and excitement to those continuing to discover the underwater world.

Rick is survived by his children, Jessie Lynn Sutton and Stephen Richard Sutton and daughter-in-law, Meghean Mayeur Sutton; siblings, Scott Sutton, Faith Ann Barr, Teddy Sutton, and Tracey Aponte; and his grandchildren, Marceline Sutton and Atticus Sutton. Also survived by many extended family members and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Faith Sutton.

A private celebration of Rick’s life was held by his family.
