Rhonda Lynn Barnes, a radiant spirit who brought joy and love to all who knew her, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana, the very place where her vibrant journey began on Friday, October 12, 1990. Rhonda was a true firecracker-full of energy, bubbly, and fun-loving, her laughter and zest for life would light up any room.
Rhonda will always be remembered for her deep devotion to her family. She cherished every moment spent with her family. She is survived by sons, Phillip Pearson Jr., Austin, Ayden, and Aaron Sykes. Her fiancé, Brandon Rankin, stood by her side, embodying the partnership built on love and mutual support that defined their relationship.
As a daughter, Rhonda's heart was intertwined with that of her loving father, Ronnie Barnes. She found strength and guidance from her stepmothers, Dee Dee Barnes and Misty Shaffett, who embraced her as their own. She is also survived by her mother, Wanda Lynn Bankston. The bonds of sisterhood were strong as well; she shared a loving relationship with her sisters, Stephanie Poirrier and Kallie Barnes, who filled her life with laughter, shared secrets, and unwavering support.
Rhonda holds a special place in the hearts of her grandparents, Rita and Kevlin Morgan, as well as her nieces, Raylynn and Alaina Voiselle, and her nephews, Nolan Larpenter and Beaux Bankston who brought her joy and pride, reminding her of the beauty of family bonds and the circle of life.
Preceded in death by her grandparents, Larry Ronnie Barnes, Samuel and Vickie Lennen, Betty Bob and John Gordon Bankston, and Buddy Shaffett; and brother, Sammy Bankston. Their memories remained cherished treasures in her heart.
In her quieter moments, Rhonda found solace in reading her Bible, drawing strength from her faith and spirituality. This connection to her beliefs fueled her positivity and compassion, emanating through her interactions with those she encountered. Rhonda found joy in the simple beauties of life, especially through her love of music, singing with her sister, and photography.
In celebration of Rhonda’s vibrant life, let us hold her memory close, recalling the joy she brought, the love she shared, and the moments that made life extraordinary. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire love, laughter, and joy in those she adored.
