Rene Marie Somme

Rene Marie Somme passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 57.  She was born on Wednesday, November 2, 1966, in Christiansted, Virgin Islands and resided in Ponchatoula, LA.  She had 29 years of service with the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority.

Rene was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a ray of sunshine to all who met her.  She will be deeply missed.

Rene is survived by her sons, Dory Jacobs and O׳Keffe Jacobs; parents, Victor Somme, Jr. and Leota Rabsatt Somme; siblings, Victor Somme, III., Troy Somme, and Shawn Hendrickson; and grandchildren, K׳shalee, Kayden, Kayce, and Taj Jacobs.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Rene’s Life in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 1:00 pm.  The visitation will begin at 11:30 am and continue until service time.
