Muriel Lascola Cavat

Muriel Lascola Cavat passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, surrounded by her family, at her residence in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 94.  She was born on Sunday, July 15, 1928, in New Orleans, Louisiana, was a longtime resident of Meraux, and a resident of Ponchatoula since 2005.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, who adored her family and spoiled them rotten every chance she would get.  Her favorite pastime was bowling and spending time with her bowling alley families at Arabi Bowl and Tangi Lanes.

Muriel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Cavat; daughter, Joann Lee Walsh; son, John J. Walsh, III; parents, Antonia W. and John F. Lascola; sister, Leatrice L. Casteglia; and great grandson, Kail Joseph Verdon.

She is survived by her loving family: her grandchildren, Jay and Tina Walsh, and Shannon and Kenny Verdon; great grandchildren, Jessica “Jessie”, Jade, Julia “JuJu”, John “Buddy”, and Kenneth Paul “Peanut”; great great grandchildren, Liam Alexander and Callie Ann; and daughters-in-law, Adeline Walsh and Darlene Atwood.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Muriel's Life in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 10:00 am until the service begins at 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the International Shrine of St. Jude , c/o Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 411 N. Rampart St., New Orleans, LA 70112, in memory of Muriel L. Cavat.
