Mechelle Marie Wallace

Mechelle Marie Wallace, affectionately known to many as "Red," passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana. Born on Friday, June 3, 1966, in Amite, Louisiana, Mechelle lived a life marked by devotion to her family and the joy she found in their company.

Mechelle was a cherished daughter of the late Eileen Voivedich Wallace and William A. Wallace, Sr., and granddaughter of Eva and Johnny Wallace and Abigail and Benny Voivedich. Her family was at the heart of her life, and she especially treasured the time spent with her many nieces and nephews. She was enjoyed their laughter and youthful energy, creating lasting memories and nurturing close bonds with each of them.

She is survived by her loving companion, Yvette Baham, and her siblings William "Billy" Wallace, Jr., who is married to Jeannie, and Eileen Wallace Moore. Among those who will dearly miss her are her niece and nephews Jessica, William III, Joseph, and Benjamin, along with an extended family of great nieces and nephews: William IV, Branson, Mason, Olivia, Oaklyn, Remington, Landen, Abigail, Eva, Aaron, and Gunner. Also mourning her loss are her step nieces and nephew: Judy, Nancy, Theresa, Henry Jr., and Stephanie.

Red's warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family made her a beloved figure whose spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her. She lived a life of quiet strength and unwavering love, leaving behind a legacy rooted deeply in the hearts of her family.

Her memory will be cherished by all whose lives she touched, and her presence will be profoundly missed throughout her community and family circle.

A private Celebration of Mechelle's Life will be held at a later date.
