Mary Elizabeth Norred

Mary Elizabeth Hill Norred passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the age of 77.  She was born on Saturday, August 31, 1946 in Independence, Louisiana and resided in Springfield.  Mary was a member of Promise Baptist Church in Holden, LA.  She had a voice like an angel and sang and ministered as much as she could with her musical family.

Mary is survived by her beloved family, her children, Paul F. Norred (Nakesha Hendry), Patrick E. Norred (Lisa), Shanda L. Norred, and Darren M. Norred (Cathy); stepsons, William G. Norred and Wayne Norred; brothers and sisters, Norvie Thornton, Tarrie O'Dell, Linda Sue Hill, Jerry Hill, Elmer Ray Gehegan, and Hazel Hill; grandchildren, Shelby, Emily, Ethan, Montana, Blake, Wayne, Page, Cheyenne, Marvin III, Brittney, Dakota, Hezzie, Jacob, Chasity, Corwin, Felicia, Makayla, Craig, Natasha, Brooke, and Shenna.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband, Oscar “Pat” Floyd Norred; parents, Herman and Pearlie Hill; sisters, Dorothy "Lee" Gehegan and JoAnn Lott; brothers, Herman "Man" Hill and Raymond Hill, and granddaughter, Reba Norred.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm and on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.  The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm.

Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery, Springfield, Louisiana.
