Mary Ann Major Simmons

Mary Ann Major Simmons passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, April 25, 2022, in Hammond, Louisiana at the age of 75.  She was born on Tuesday, September 3, 1946, in Independence, Louisiana and resided in Amite, Louisiana.  Mary was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was dearly loved by her family.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Matilda Plumlee and her husband, Thor; and Beverly Simmons; and sons, Michael Simmons and his wife, Tara; and Carl Simmons and his wife, Thelma; grandchildren, Jamie Brumfield, Kurt Holobaugh, Seana Simmons, Jack Brumfield, MaryJo Hoover, Kasey Holobaugh, Michael Simmons, Joellen Rivera, Robert Simmons, and Cheyenne Simmons; and sister, Stella Walker. Also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 40 years, Casey Simmons; daughters, Joellen and Melinda; parents, Lewis and Mary Major; and sisters, Marie, Rosalie, Frances, Nita, Karleen, and Maggie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Mary’s Life in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 6:30 pm.  The visitation will begin at 6:00 pm and continue until 8:00 pm.
