Obituary

Marcus "Allen" Guidry, a cherished soul whose life was deeply intertwined with the spirit of Bridge City, Louisiana, was born on Wednesday, October 21, 1953. He departed this world peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at his home in Independence, Louisiana, surrounded by the loving presence of his family. His passing marks the end of a remarkable journey filled with dedication, love, and a profound connection to the simple joys of life.

Allen's early years in Bridge City shaped a man who would build not only structures but also enduring relationships. His career in the construction industry, coupled with his dedicated service at Avondale Shipyards, reflected his unwavering work ethic and commitment to craftsmanship. Those who knew him witnessed a man who took pride in his work, finding satisfaction in every project completed, every problem solved.

Beyond his professional life, Allen was a lover of the outdoors. The fresh air and vast skies were his sanctuary, where he found peace and inspiration. He had a knack for fixing things, a testament to his resourceful and caring nature, always ready to lend a hand or repair what was broken. His joyful rides on his electric bike were a symbol of his zest for life—embracing both innovation and the natural world with equal enthusiasm.

Allen’s family remembered him as a pillar of strength and warmth. He was the beloved brother of Elsie Guidry Beebe and Gabriel J. Guidry, whose bonds remained steadfast throughout his life. His nieces, Mary Ellen Rodgers (Allen), Lisa Larousse (BJ), and Stephanie Taulli (Chris), nephew Steven Larousse (Stephanie), and his cousin, Susan Paysse carry forward the legacy of love and kindness he embodied. The joy extended to the youngest members of the family, including great nieces and nephews Matthew Rodgers (Tracy), Taylor Rodgers, and Nicole Brooks (Willie), and great-great nieces and nephews Rhett, Skylar, and Stevie Brooks, Dylan and Erika Taulli, and Brennan and Whitney Larousse, all of whom were touched by his generous spirit.

His departure also brings a moment to honor those who went before him—his beloved mother, Elsie Taylor Guidry, and father, Gabriel J. Guidry. Their memory lives on in the values and love that Allen cherished and passed down.

Allen’s life was a tapestry of hard work, family devotion, and simple pleasures. His legacy will continue to resonate in the laughter of his nieces and nephews, in the sturdy walls of the places he helped build, and in the soft hum of electric bike wheels on a quiet road. Though he has left this world, the warmth of his presence remains, forever inscribed in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The graveside service will be held in Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale, Louisiana. The date and time will be announced.

Allen's arrangements have been entrusted to LN Hughes Funeral Services.
