Leroy Charles Fredenburg, 85, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Monday, February 19, 1940, in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Leroy lived a full and hardworking life defined by dedication, love, and service to those he cherished most.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence Fredenburg and Charles A. Fredenburg, and his sisters Ellen Disbrow, Carol Russell, and Linda King.

Leroy is survived by his devoted wife and caregiver of 41 years, Rhonda Fredenburg; his children, Becky Locicero (Jimmy) and Ray Sparnecht (Julie); and his beloved grandchildren, Kristen Glascock, Kayla Locicero, Kelsey St. Arnaud, Kayla Scott, and Gabrielle Sparnecht. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Isabella Dimacco, Landon Glascock, Adelina St. Arnaud, Jules Glascock, Lennie St. Arnaud, and Braylon Scott who brought immense joy to his later years.

A proud veteran, Leroy served one tour—four years—in the United States Air Force as a missile technician. His time in the service not only deepened his sense of discipline and precision but also sparked a lifelong passion for tinkering, tools, and building. That passion stayed with him throughout his life, often accompanied by his enjoyment of Popular Mechanics magazine.

Following his military service, Leroy dedicated 38 years of his career to Illinois Tool Works, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steadfast reliability. Outside of work, he found his greatest fulfillment in family gatherings, sharing stories, and offering a listening ear and steady guidance.

One of Leroy’s most cherished traditions was telling his wife, children, and grandchildren, “I love you more.” It was more than a phrase—it was a promise and a reminder of the deep love he carried for them every single day.

His legacy is one of love, loyalty, and perseverance. Leroy will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his gentle sense of humor, and his quiet strength.

A private family service will be held to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Leroy’s memory by spending time with your loved ones and cherishing the moments you have together.
