Leonard "Len" J. Cacioppo, Jr., born on Wednesday, April 15, 1959, in Independence, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana. Len's life was marked by his warm spirit and dedication to those he loved, making a significant impact in the lives of many who were fortunate enough to know him.

Len was known for his kindness, profound wisdom, and unwavering support to friends and family. He had a gift for making people feel welcomed and appreciated. His passion for life was evident in everything he did, from his career to his interactions with loved ones.

Len is survived by his daughter, Peyton Cacioppo; sister, Gwen Cacioppo; brother and sister-in-law, Glynn and Cynthia Cacioppo; niece, Rochelle Cacioppo Imhoff (Larry); great nephew, Michael Melancon, great niece, Claire Rose Davis; niece, Bria Bohanon; and nephew, Colin Imhoff.

Preceeded in death by his parents, Rose Tarver and Leonard "Leo" J. Cacioppo, Sr.

Today we lay the body of Leonard J Cacioppo to rest, but know he is now walking with the King. I know he is rejoicing to hear the Lord say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into your rest". We will probably never know the lives and hearts Len has reached with his word and touch, across, not just our community or this state but cross the country or maybe even the world.

He would want you to continue to serve our Lord, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the one and only, true King of Kings, the faithful, merciful and compassionate God, He would want us to have faith and know, God is in control ALL of the time, even when we don’t like the outcome.

Lens passion for Christ was unmeasurable, he loved God with his whole body, soul and mind and he love to spread the word. Len was a strong man of faith and in the word of God, he was very favored and bless in his time here with us.

He was my best friend, not only my brother in blood, but my brother in Christ, he was a mentor, a teacher, a preacher, a friend, a father figure to some, a disciplinarian if needed, but most importantly he was an obedient man of God.

He sang off key and played that old guitar off tune in his worship to the Lord. He always had a word of wisdom with kindness and compassion.

He was patient, slow to anger, he showed no respect of person. He did not care if you were homeless or the governor, he treated everyone the same. He would stop whatever he was doing to help others, he would give his last dollar to help and would go without, but he knew God would reward him in heaven.

Len would tell me often he would wake up in the morning and say, “ok Lord, what we doing today”, he studied is bible faithfully, always asking the Lord for wisdom, courage and knowledge, he wanted to be ready when someone had a question with confusion or need clarification.

He always said, "if it ain’t in the Word (Bible), he ain’t for it”.

It was most important to Len that everyone, especially his family, have salvation, seek God, first, be baptized in Jesus name, ask for forgiveness, get the Holy Ghost with the gift of speaking in tongues and read/study the word, we all know he was a big King James man.

He would want us to keep the faith, press on to live for the Lord, show kindness, have patience, have compassion and continue to spread the word of salvation of the one true God (Jesus Christ). There were many times I would ask, why are things this way or that way, being impatient and his favorite passage was, Line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little there a little…just have a little patience Gwen…as most know…that’s not my forte.

My family and I want everyone to know we are thankful, grateful and bless for all the continuous prayers, blessings, kindness shown, friendships, calls of concern, words of wisdom and compassion everyone has given us in our time of sorrow.

I personally have developed a stronger relationship with Christ and others just because of Len.

And finally as Len would always say “Bless you in Jesus name”.
