Leah Mary DeRamus Cuccia passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana at the age of 88. She was born on Monday, December 26, 1932 in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she spent her childhood. She and her husband Tony raised their four sons in Arabi, Louisiana. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A beautiful woman, inside and out. She was devoted to her family and the Catholic Church.
Leah is survived by her loving family: her sons, Anthony “Tony” Cuccia, Jr. (Lori), Michael “Mike” Cuccia (Sandra), Glenn Cuccia, and Gary Cuccia; grandchildren, Natasha Robin (Kevin), Scott Cuccia (Melissa), Jill Helm (Matt), Michael Cuccia (Krystin), Anthony Cuccia (Kerri), Donna Cuccia, and Lindsay Battaglia (Nathan); great grandchildren, Olivia, Sophia, and Stella Helm, Evan and Evangeline Cuccia, Nicholas Robin, Isabel and Charlotte Cuccia, Lily, Mia, Suri, Liam, and Isla Battaglia, Joshua McCraney, Jr., Bella Cuccia, Wayne Savoy, Jr., and Amelia Cuccia; and close cousins, Ricky and Janet Tamor. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her first husband, Anthony “Tony” Cuccia, Sr., second husband, Samuel Amato; parents, Aline Alice Ragas DeRamus and Earl DeRamus; and grandson, Jeffery “Jeff” Cuccia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 2320 Paris Road, Chalmette, Louisiana 70043 on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held at church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
Interment will follow in St. Roch Cemetery #2, New Orleans, Louisiana.
