Lawrence "Penny" Frank Koerin

Lawrence Frank “Penny” Koerin passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home in Hammond/Pumpkin Center, Louisiana, on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the age of 75.  He was born on Tuesday, September 7, 1948, in New Orleans and raised in Wadesboro. Penny was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Pumpkin Center, a graduate of Ponchatoula High School, and a member of the Carpenters Local Union # 1098.  Penny worked for Brand Scaffolding at C.F. Industries for many years where he made countless close friends.

Penny is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Valinda Starkey Koerin; children, Kirt Koerin (AnneMarie), Leticia “Tish” McAllister (Russ), and Kellese “Kellie” Hebert (Kerry);

10 grandchildren, Colin Koerin, Kerry Hebert, Jr., Alaina “Lainey” McAllister, Brendan Koerin, Brantley Hebert Mizell (Trenton), William “Will” McAllister, Zane Mayeux, Kaden Hebert, Reece McAllister, and Eason Hebert; great granddaughters, Kambrie, June, and Mallyn Mae (due in May); sister and brother-in-law, Irma and Laton “Cooter” Smith; sister-in-law, Vernice M. Koerin; and dear friend, Gary Blackledge.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Beaulah and Albert F. Koerin, Sr.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cordia and Colmar “Sonny” Starkey; and brothers, Albert Koerin, Jr. and Johnny Koerin.

The Koerin family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Paul Guilbault and the staff of Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 11109 Jerusalem Church Rd., Hammond, Louisiana on Monday, February 5, 2024, beginning at 10:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm with Brother Charles Stewart presiding.

Interment will follow in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.
