Kathleen Jeanette Berthaut Flattmann, fondly known as Kat, left this world on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, peacefully at her home in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family. She was pronounced on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 in Hammond prior to organ donation. Born on Sunday, August 19, 1962, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Kathleen carried the warmth and vibrancy of her birthplace throughout her life—a true ray of sunshine who remained happy no matter the circumstance.

Kathleen’s journey was marked not only by her natural grace but by her deep sense of giving. In her final act of kindness, she chose to be an organ donor through the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, a gift of life that will continue her legacy of love and generosity.

Kat was more than just a beloved family member; she was a walking angel, a kind-hearted and loving soul whose generosity knew no bounds. Her tender heart extended beyond her family to every living creature she encountered. She cherished animals and flowers alike, displaying an enduring love for life’s simple beauties. Always ready to help, Kathleen would selflessly give her last cent to anyone in need, embodying compassion and kindness in its purest form.

Her family remembers her as a steadfast presence, ever-reliable and nurturing. Her surviving son, Jason M. Flattmann, along with her devoted daughter-in-law, Kristy L. Flattmann, and her treasured grandchildren—Jaden M. Flattmann, Jase M. Flattmann, Braden R. Duvernay, and Kaden A. Duvernay—carry her spirit close to their hearts. Kathleen’s sister, Kimberly Dinet, also holds dear the memories of a woman whose generosity and love shaped their lives.

Kat is mourned by her family and friends who had the privilege to share in her journey and who now honor her memory. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Michael Flattmann, Sr., her son John Michael Flattmann, Jr., and her mother, Regina Kennedy.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 S I - 12 Service Rd, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454. Following the visitation, the funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm.
