Karen Waits Moore, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 68. Born on Monday, January 20, 1958, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Karen’s journey through life was marked by honesty, dedication, and a deep commitment to those she loved.

Karen devoted over three decades of her professional life as an Insulator with Local Union 53, where she earned a reputation for her strong work ethic and remarkable loyalty. After more than 30 years of service, she retired, leaving a lasting legacy among her colleagues who valued both her expertise and the candor with which she approached every endeavor. Karen always spoke her mind, a quality that endeared her to many and ensured that her guidance and perspective were both respected and sought after by those around her.

Family was always at the heart of Karen’s world. For 25 years, she was married to her devoted husband, Mark Moore, a partnership built on love, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Together, they created a home that was welcoming and filled with warmth. Karen was a cherished mother to her son, Eric Ryals, whose achievements and character brought her immense pride. She was also a loving sister to Alan Waits.

Preceded in death by her parents, Betty Aucoin Waits and Albert Waits Jr, as well as her sisters Irene Rolfes and Carol Ann Meullieur, and brother Donald Waits Sr. She held them dearly in her heart throughout her life.

A Celebration of Karen's Life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at 65498 LA-1054, Kentwood, Louisiana. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember the remarkable woman she was.

Karen Waits Moore leaves behind a legacy of devotion, honesty, and love that continues to inspire all fortunate to have known her. She will be deeply missed.
