Joseph W Picou Sr

Joseph “Joe” W. Picou, Sr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at his residence in Ponchatoula, Louisiana at the age of 82.  Joe was born on Wednesday, August 31, 1938 in Whitehall, Louisiana and was a longtime resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.  Prior to his retirement, he was a well-known home builder.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary D. Picou; son, Joseph Picou, Jr. of Ponchatoula, LA; granddaughters, Brooke Picou of Hammond, LA and Casey Penalber of Maurepas, LA; grandsons, Cory Picou of Ponchatoula, LA and Joey Picou of Killian, LA; great grandson, Jonavon Hart of Hammond, LA; brother, Arno Picou and his wife Mollie Picou of Maurepas, LA; nieces, Amy Picou, Kaleigh Kuykendall, Wendy Simoneaux, Aubrey Bourgeois, all of Maurepas, LA; dear friend, Chris Suire of Maurepas, LA and numerous other family members and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Exavier Picou and Antoinette LeBourgeois Picou; sisters, Doralese Mire, Gladys Butler, and Mary Ann Picou; and brother, JC Picou.

The Picou family extends their sincere thanks to Passages Hospice and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center of Covington for their compassionate care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Rd., Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 11:00 am.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and continue until 11:00 am.  Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Hammond, LA.
