Joseph Thomas Kelly

Joseph Thomas Kelly passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, surrounded by his family at his residence in Amite, Louisiana, at the age of 89. He was born on Thursday, February 8, 1934, in Gartersville, GA, was a former resident of the West Bank of New Orleans and resided in Amite.  Joseph was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who enjoyed bowling, old westerns, tending to his lawn, his New Orleans Saints, and COFFEE.  He honorably served in the United States Army.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Iris Dugas Kelly; children, Misty Mankel (Harry), Trisha Benoit (Scott), Rona Cottrell (Ralph), and Tammy Dortch; siblings, Darlene Reynolds, Austin Kelly, Aaron Kelly, and Troy Kelly; grandchildren, Amy Cousins, Michael Benoit, Heather Bozeman, Landon Benoit, Hailey Mankel, David Wiley, Jessica Birdwell, and Chayenne Dortch; and great grandchildren, James “TJ” Cousins, and Audrey Birdwell.  Also survived by many family members and friends.

Preceded in death by his daughter, Stacy Kelly; son, Louis Arther Winegarner, III; parents, Sallie and Robert Kelly; brother, Jimmie Kelly; sister, Sarah Dellaria; and grandsons, Dakota Dortch and Timothy Kelly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Graveside Service with Military Honors at McDonoghville Cemetery, 520 Hancock St, Gretna, LA 70053 on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 12:00 pm.
