He grew up in Chalmette, shaped by its culture and by a family that instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion. Joseph was the beloved son of Mary Catherine Polk Faler and Thomas Lawrence Faler, both of whom preceded him in death, as did his dear brother Larry Faler. The bonds forged in his formative years remained a guiding presence throughout his life.

Joey spent his career expressing his passion for beauty and community as the former owner of Dunnings Florist. In this role, he brought joy to countless lives, filling special moments and milestones with vibrant color and elegance. His skill and artistic vision earned him the respect and appreciation of those who knew him through his work.

He was preceded in death by his beloved husband, James Nelson-Faler, whose partnership brought love, support, and happiness into Joseph’s life. Joseph is survived by his devoted sister Kim Faler Norman and her husband Joe Norman, who were steadfast companions and supporters throughout the years. He is also fondly remembered by his nephew Tyler Norman and niece Taylor Norman Bunns (Kendall), as well as Kenson Bunns and Tayson Bunns, who, among others, were part of his extended circle of family and love.
