John Raymond Macheca, Sr.

John Raymond Macheca, Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022, in Metairie, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 83.  He was born on Friday, October 6, 1939, in New Orleans, Louisiana, was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard and moved to Metairie in 2005.  John retired from Zetz 7up after 32 years and served in the Louisiana National Guard.  He was an avid hunter, a dedicated family man, and Patriarch of the Macheca family.

John is survived by his children, Nicholas J. Macheca, Sr. and his wife, Lauren, Kelly Macheca Ellis, and John R. Macheca, Jr. and his wife, Jamie; grandchildren, Nick (Emily), Joshua (Devin), Jonathan (Meg), Jacob (Abby), and Brandon (Emily); great-grandchildren, Nate, Gabe, Hudson, Addie, and Luke.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Noelie Mayer Macheca; parents, Nicholas J. Sr. and Mary Patello Macheca; brothers, Nicholas J. Macheca, Jr. and Victor Macheca; and son-in-law, Michael H. Ellis, Sr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Angela Merici Church, 901 Beverly Gardens Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70002 on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 12:00 pm.  Visitation will be held at church from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm.

Interment will follow in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Gardens, Covington, Louisiana.
