John Evans Hill
August 30, 1954 – October 2, 2026
John Evans Hill, 72, of Hancock County, Mississippi, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 2, 2026, in Slidell, Louisiana.
John was born on Monday, August 30, 1954, and grew up in Marietta, Georgia, in his beloved family home in Huntington Ridge. He attended Sprayberry High School before continuing his education at Georgia Tech and North Georgia College.
John spent much of his life building more than houses—he built a life centered around family, hard work, and the things he loved. As a skilled home builder, he worked throughout Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. He took pride in his work and in the homes he helped create.
Outside of work, John enjoyed fishing, playing video games, spending time with his family, and most of all, being surrounded by the people and animals he loved. He had a special place in his heart for animals and was never without the companionship of his beloved four-legged friends. He shared his home in Hancock County with his cherished pets, Clarissa and Sasha.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Willis Hill and Dorothy Hellen Evans Hill; his daughter, Bonnie Ruth Hill; and two beloved pets, Bilouxi and Junior (Junebug).
He leaves behind a family who will carry his memory and love with them always. John is survived by his sister, Susan Barrows of Fulton, Georgia; his daughters, Shannon Danielle Cantrell of Woodstock, Georgia; Kelly Kathleen Jacobson of Hartwell, Georgia; and Amber Randall of Canton, Georgia; and his sons, Jeremiah Randall of Woodstock, Georgia, and Justin Hill of Washington State.
He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as a beloved uncle and family member to several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
John’s sudden passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express. His life was woven into the lives of so many people, and his memory will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
Though he is no longer here to answer the phone, walk through the door, share a story, or simply be there, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain.
Rest peacefully, John. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Arrangements have been entrusted to LN Hughes Funeral Services.
