She thoroughly enjoyed raising and training many German Shepherds over the years, who would also eventually become some of her best friends.

Joey Angelle Daigle Lanter passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026 in Gonzales, Louisiana. She was born on Tuesday, February 4, 1958, and raised in New Orleans, the daughter of Roy Daigle and Cecelia Dolores Sanchez Jacobsen.

Mid-City New Orleans always seemed to stay with Joey. It was there in her unmistakable accent, her love of music and food, her sense of humor, and her elaborate stories.

She later married Steven Lanter and moved to LaPlace, where she raised their four daughters. Once retired, she moved to Gonzales, where she continued to care take for their grandchildren.

Joey loved babies, children, and animals, but had a special place in her heart for German Shepherds. She thoroughly enjoyed raising and training many German Shepherds over the years, who would also eventually become some of her best friends.

But most of all, she loved her family. It was the center of her life and her greatest pride and joy. She leaves behind a strong legacy through her four daughters, Angelle Lanter, Stephanie Lanter, Jennifer Timberlake, and Meghan Roberson; six grandchildren, Sarah Breaux, Daylan Timberlake, Zoey Hauk, Kaylie Timberlake, Camila Casco, and Clara Roberson; and two great-grandchildren, Leilani McBride and Colton Timberlake.

She will also be greatly missed by her four favorite sons-in-law: Chet Guidry, Sean Heaps, David Timberlake, and Samuel Roberson.

Although we are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Joey, we are forever grateful for the family she created. Through them, her spirit, love, laughter, strong opinions, and interesting stories will continue on.

No formal funeral service will be held at this time.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Any willing donations can be made to support her biggest cause helping German Shepherds.
