Jimi Grant Smith

Jimi Grant Smith passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 30.  He was born on Wednesday, April 8, 1992 in Hammond, Louisiana to Laura Charbonnet-Brown and David Lee Smith, Sr., and resided in Ponchatoula.  Jimi was a deck hand and enjoyed working on the water.  He was always happy with a huge heart and was always trying to make you laugh. He loved hard and was loved and will be missed by all of his children, parents, siblings, family and friends.

Jimi is survived by his mother, Laura Charbonnet-Brown (Brad); father, David Lee Smith, Sr. (Elisa); siblings, David Smith, Jr., Sean Watts, Taylor Watts, Kailee Smith, Liam Smith, and Abigail Smith; three children, Aries, Aaric, and Jema; grandmother, Ann Burroughs; companion, Bailey Elaine Johnson; second mom, CathyJo Johnson; second grandmother, Kathy Treadway; and best friend/brother, JohnJohn. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Yvonne Charbonnet; grandpa, Phil Smith; aunts, Yvette Myers and Ruth Scott; and uncle, Terry Bordelon.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service and Celebration of Jimi’s Life in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm.

The interment will be held at Charbonnet Family Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jimi Smith funeral fund at LN Hughes Funeral Services.
