Jerry Denny Martin, Sr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24 2025 in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 80. He was born on Friday, May 18, 1945 in Tickfaw and was a lifelong resident of Tangipahoa Parish. Jerry’s first love was his guitar, playing music since he was a young boy. He played all through Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi with famous names such as Irma Thomas, Crystal Gayle, and Three Blind Mice– later known as Alabama.

Jerry is survived by his children, Cheryl Martin, Connie Martin, and Mark Martin; grandchildren, Laura, Ronnie, Sarah, Justin, Heather, Ashley, Tina, Jerry, Lindsey, and Mark. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Preceded in death by beloved wife, Mary Beth Martin; son, Jerry “Denny” Martin, Jr.; parents, Clara and Sim Martin; great grandson, Lawrence; and siblings, Ruby Wagner, Alfred Martin, Louis Martin, Earl Martin, Gilbert Martin, Bobby Martin, Hugo Martin, and Raymond Martin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at Martin Cemetery in Natalbany, Louisiana, on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 3:00 pm. The service will be officiated by Jerry’s nephew, Rev. John Spears.
