James Darrin Varnado

James Darrin Varnado passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at his residence in Tickfaw, Louisiana, at the age of 56. He was born on Wednesday, December 4, 1968 in Franklinton, Louisiana. He was a wonderful husband, dad, paw paw and friend.

James enjoyed listening to Ozzy Osborne and playing with his kitty cat, Mocha. He loved reading and had a goal to always try to learn one new thing a day. He loved to make people around him laugh and you would always see him smiling and cracking jokes.  James was a hustler always finding new ways to make money and was no stranger to “work”.

He always said, “I am the luckiest dad in the world”!  He’d even use that quote and hash tag on his photos he posted online of his children, and they meant the absolute world to him.

Our hearts are torn apart over his loss, but we will continue to remember the memories we’ve made with him and cherish them always.

James is survived by his beloved family: his wife, Crystal Varnado; children, Chelsie Regan (Brett Regan), Damon Varnado (Madison Good); Abigail Varnado (Jarred Ratcliff), and Blake Varnado (his four-wheeler); grandchildren, Khloe Lucia, Giovanni Varnado, Hartley Varnado, and Gunnar James Varnado; mother, Betty Napp; and brothers, John Varnado (Lavelle), Charles “Chuck” Varnado, Jr (Leigh), and Micheal Tucker. Also survived by many family members and friends.

Preceded in death by his father, Charles Varnado and loving bonus mother, Faye Varnado; brothers, Mark Varnado and Brian Varnado; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gail and Glenn Bennett. Also preceded by his maternal grandparents who raised him.

A private visitation was held by the family.
