James Franklin Ross

James “Jim” Franklin Ross passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at his residence in Springfield, Louisiana, at the age of  67.  He was born on Tuesday, May 8, 1956 in Danville, Illinois.  He owned and operated a trucking transport company for many years.  After his retirement, he enjoyed farming, hunting, watching Westerns, and spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Mary Jo Smith Ross; mother, Lora Ross; sons, Tony Ross, Shawn Ross, and Kendall Newell; brothers, Tom Ross and Lloyd Ross; and stepdaughter, Deborah Winger.  Also survived by 36 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, family members and friends.

Preceded in death by his father, Robert Ross; brother, Buddy Ross; and stepson, David Smith.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at a later date.
