Jimmy will be remembered for his joyful spirit, wonderful sense of humor, love for people, and above all, his love for his God, Jehovah.

James Homer Evans III, affectionately known to family and friends as "Jimmy" or "Tank," passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 in Hammond, Louisiana at the age of 64. Born on Monday, January 15, 1962 in Del Rio, Texas, Jimmy will be remembered for his joyful spirit, wonderful sense of humor, love for people, and above all, his love for his God, Jehovah. 

Jimmy was the son of the late Judy and James Evans. He is survived by his brother, Robert and sister, Nancy. He was a much-loved brother, uncle, family member, and friend.

Anyone who knew Jimmy can probably remember a time when something he said or did made them laugh until they cried. He loved to joke, have fun, and enjoy life. Time spent with Jimmy was often filled with laughter, adventures, and the simple moments that became treasured memories. Jimmy loved being outdoors, and much of his working life reflected that. He worked in lawn care, including with Lee's Lawn Care, and as part of the grounds crew at Zephyr Field. He also enjoyed using his skills to help maintain the grounds at the Kingdom Hall.

Jimmy enjoyed taking trips with family and friends, playing and watching football, spending time with the people he loved, sharing meals together, and, of course, enjoying some ice cream. Most important to Jimmy was his faith. On December 17, 1983, Jimmy was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, beginning a life of dedicated service to Jehovah. He loved sharing bible truths with others and wanted people to know about Jehovah and the promises found in his word, the bible. One promise especially close to Jimmy's heart was Revelation 21:4, which speaks of a future when death, mourning, pain, and suffering will be no more.

Although Jimmy lived with the challenges of multiple sclerosis, he maintained his joy and sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, while his family holds close the many memories of his laughter, adventures, love, and faith-and the hope that Jimmy himself treasured.

The family would like to express special appreciation to the staff and fellow residents of Landmark Nursing Facility, the staff of Modern Hospice, and LN Hughes Funeral Services for their care, companionship, support, and assistance during this time.

There will surely be stories told for years to come that begin, "Remember when Jimmy ... " and chances are, they will end with everyone laughing.

A Celebration of Jimmy's life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 48440 US-51, Tickfaw, LA 70466.
