The family of James Oliver Dingler of Ponchatoula, Louisiana regretfully announce that he passed away on Monday, June 13th, 2022, at the age of 89 at his daughter’s home in Madisonville.
James was born in Clay County, Alabama to Roxie Aletha McCollum and James Thomas Dingler, and later settled in Metairie, Louisiana; Lumberton, Mississippi; and Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
He established James Dingler Plumbing and Heating and remained in business for over fifty years. He was a hard-working man who was known to his friends and family members as Jimmy. He loved his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His other favorite pastimes were woodworking, oil painting and raising orchids. He was a good listener, warm and thoughtful.
His family and friends will miss his positive attitude, good cheer, and generous spirit. He was a patriot of our country and honorably served in the Army in the Korean War. He especially loved his grandchildren, who surrounded him with joy.
James is survived by his wife, Melba (Brady) and their three children, Jeff Dingler and his wife Colleen, Melissa Levine and her husband Kevin, and Michael J. Dingler. His grandchildren, Madeline Neely, Austin Dingler, Davis Levine, Claire Levine, Sophia Dingler, Aidan Dingler, and Audrey Dingler. His great grandchild, Finn Hede. He is also survived by children from his first marriage and their families, Deborah Koepke and James O. Dingler, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Clyde Dingler, Kermit May Dingler, Mary Dingler Yates, Geneva Dingler, Marie Dingler Maddox, Hazel Dingler Adams, Bobbie Jean Dingler Adams, and Margaret Dingler Sheppard.
