James David Bennett Sr

James David “Dave” Bennett, Sr. passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020 in Gonzales, LA at the age of 65.  He was born on Sunday, July 17, 1955 in Wynne, Arkansas, raised in New Orleans and resided in Gonzales, Louisiana.   Dave loved his family with all of his heart and soul.  He will always be remembered for his sweet smile, his bear hugs, and his love for his Saints Football.

Dave is survived by his loving family: his beloved wife of 44 years, Miriam Villegas Bennett; children, Jody Ray Gautreaux, Chastity Lynn Lachney (Michael), James David Bennett, Jr. (Martha), Jason Scott Bennett, and Brandon Keith Bennett (Tiffany); grandchildren, Jade, Jody, Trey, Chase, Bailee, Logan, Jordan, Sky, Kristie, James, John, Bentley, Gabriel, Keedyn, and Brady; great grandchildren, Jemma, Ryland, and Averlie; siblings, Sharon Rome (Mike), Brenda Chiappinelli (Chip), and Marion Even; father-in-law, Bienvenido Villegas; and sisters-in-law, Elsa, Nery, Sonia, and Maggie.   Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Lucy and Sidney Bennett; his beloved daughter, Kristie Dian Bennett; sister, Margaret Muir; and mother-in-law, Lucia Villegas.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Sunday, November 8, 2020.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm.

Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Dave.
