Gordon Robert Johnson

Gordon Robert Johnson passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, in Hammond, Louisiana. A native of Golden Meadow, he was a resident of Robert, Louisiana. Gordon was a loving father and devoted husband. Born on Thursday, September 19, 1957, in New Orleans to Irma M. and Robert R. Johnson, he was the beloved husband of Susan Weaver Johnson for 17 years. As a dedicated father to Jared M. Johnson, Jami J. Adams (Lance), and stepson Casey St. Romain (Madison), he took great joy in being a loving grandfather to Evan, Aubrey, Eagan, Camryn, Jillian, Brooklyn, and Leighton.

Gordon is survived by his brothers Ronald Johnson (Linda) and Kenneth Johnson (Mitzi), his sister-in-law Brenda Johnson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who will deeply miss him. He graduated from South Lafourche High School, Class of 1976, and enjoyed a successful career as a tugboat captain for over 40 years.

Known for his kindness, simplicity, and affection, Gordon cherished live music, going to the movies, camping with friends and family, cooking for others, and spending quality time with his grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his immense love for family, especially his grandchildren and friends, his easygoing demeanor, incredible sense of humor, and his passion for cooking and sharing home-cooked meals.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Gordon’s Life at Grace Memorial Baptist Church, 58516 Pearl Acres Road, Slidell, Louisiana 70461 on February 28th, visitation at 11am, and service to follow at noon.

The family invites you to join them for light refreshments and fellowship after the service in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital .
