Genia Hengst Potter

Genia Marie McMorris Hengst Potter passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at her residence in Loranger, Louisiana, at the age of 58. She was born on Monday, August 30, 1965 in Independence. She dearly loved her family and loved life to the fullest.

Genia is survived by her beloved family, her sons, Charles Robert Hengst, Chad Michael Hengst (Brandy), and Dustin James Hengst (Ashley); stepchildren, Holly Potter, Terry Potter, Jr.; siblings, Starr McMorris Cedotal (Alan), Carl Dean McMorris (Susan), and Veronica McMorris Hoyt; and grandchildren, Kaydence “KK”, Kayden “KJ”, Madelyne, and Braelyne Hengst.  Also survived by many family members and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband, Terry Lee Potter, Sr., parents, Carl Edward McMorris and Verla Mae Fontenot Hayman; and infant sister, Angela McMorris.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Genia’s Life in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm followed by the Memorial Service at 12:00 pm.

Interment will be held in New Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Hammond, LA at a later date.
