On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Frances Jordan Landry, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in Hammond, LA.
Frances is survived by her son, Jerry Landry, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Joann Sciortino Landry; grandchildren, Karen Smith (Rob), Chip McIntosh (Lisa), Mark Hughes (Jennifer), Kate Midkiff (Wade), and Jared Landry (Piper); great-grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Abigail, Jacob, Audrey, and Cooper; and great-great grandchildren, Everett and Emilia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Landry Sr. and daughters, Diane Landry Hughes and Lynn Landry Davis.
Frances was born on February 14, 1926, to Marshall and Ruth Jordan in Pike County, MS. She was one of six children. She lived a hard life during the Great Depression but came out of it as a strong, independent woman. She married Jerry Landry Sr., on December 25, 1943, at the age of 17. They were married for 50 years until his death in 1994.
As an adult, she worked at Southeastern Louisiana University as the administrative secretary to the dean of the college of business. She was a longtime member of the Hammond Lioness Club, a pink lady at Seventh Ward (North Oaks) and an active member of New Beginnings Church. She was gracious, strong, sassy and loved spending time with her family. She will be missed.
Services will be held at New Beginnings Christian Church, 42418 S. Range Road, Hammond, LA 70403 on Sunday, July 7th. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm with the funeral and burial immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Beginnings Christian Church.
