Ernest Leon Schenck

Ernest “Ernie” Leon Schenck, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 87. Born on Tuesday, August 31, 1937, in New Orleans, Ernie spent many years residing in St. Bernard Parish before moving to Ponchatoula. He retired from UPS in 1999 and proudly served in the US National Guard.

Ernie is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Patricia Green Schenck, and his loving daughters, Dawn S. Lucia (Victor) and Danielle S. Vega (Nicholas). He was a cherished grandfather to Amber L. Carollo, Danté N. Vega, and Alexis I. Vega. He is also survived by his sister, Edna S. Rohde (Edward), and sister-in-law, Dolores “Susie” Schenck, along with many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile and Rose Schenck, his sister, Catherine Schenck, and his brother, Emile L. Schenck.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Rosaryville Spirit Life Center, 39003 Rosaryville Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until 11:00 am, followed by interment in Rosaryville Memorial Gardens.
