Eric Carl Batchelder

Eric Carl Batchelder passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2020, at his residence in Madisonville, Louisiana, at the age of 63.  He was born on Thursday, April 5, 1956 to Melbaline McDowell and Floyd Edwin Batchelder in San Diego, California.  Eric enjoyed traveling with his family.  He and his wife, Vesta, would travel to the mountains with one of their most recent vacations being Yellowstone National Park.  There, he was able to enjoy caving and his love of geology and in turn they would travel to the beach where Vesta could enjoy some sun and sand.

Eric also enjoyed being outside at home, whether simply doing some gardening or spending time with Vesta talking on the porch.

Eric is survived by his loving family, his wife, Vesta Johnson Batchelder; his children, Julia Elizabeth Batchelder and Edwin “Lee” Batchelder; his daughter-in-law, Victoria Hendrix Batchelder; and his sister, Lara Batchelder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melbaline McDowell Giard and Floyd E. Batchelder.

The Batchelder family sends their sincere appreciation and thanks to Dr. Tod Aust, Donna Bickham, and the staff of Community Care Hospice for their compassionate care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 4499 Sharp Rd, Mandeville, LA 70471, on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 1:00 pm.  Father Robert Bailey presiding.  Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm.  Reception will follow at the Parish Life Center (PLC).
