A Celebration of Ella Mae Barron
Ella Mae “Mae Mae” Barron, a dedicated mother, doting grandmother, wonderful sister, and a friend to many, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the age of 87. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we celebrate a life lived with extraordinary warmth and an enthusiastic embrace of every joyful moment.
To know Ella Mae was to know a zest for life that was truly remarkable. She was a woman of many passions, finding joy in activities that spanned the quiet outdoors to the energetic crowds. She felt most at peace with a fishing rod in her hand, patiently waiting for a bite. Yet, her competitive spirit shone brightly when she was playing bingo, where you could hear her winning bingo shout often. Aside from bingo, you could also find her at the kitchen table for a lively game of cards or sharpening her mind with the quiet challenge of putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Ella Mae had a wonderful green thumb, finding great satisfaction in her gardening, turning her yard into a beautiful, vibrant oasis every season. She also found joy in her later years spending afternoons and evenings playing beauty shop and a game of homemade bingo with her great-grandaughter, Olivia.
Above all, Ella Mae cherished her role as a mother and grandmother the most. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Cynthia Perrin, granddaughter Pamela Newman, and great-granddaughter Olivia Spring. She is also survived by her grandson Wayne Perrin and great-granddaughter Jo’Ella Perrin, brother Louis Meyers Jr., sisters Eloise Tantillo (Joe), Ruby Lavergne, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Melvin Barron, her parents Louis and Henrietta Meyers Sr., her son Wayne Randel “Randy” Perrin and several siblings Ethel Baker, Dorothy Kliebert, Emerson Meyers, Walker Meyers, Nora Lee Sharp, and Bobby Meyers.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will take place in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, LA on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 10:00am until the service at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Hammond, LA.
