Elizabeth “Betty” Doris Doizé passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2023 in Hammond, Louisiana at the age of 89. She was born on Monday, January 1, 1934 to Paul Stanley and Mildred Louise Elstner Doizé, who preceded her in death. She was a native of New Orleans and moved to Franklinton, Louisiana in 1977. She was an active member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Folsom, Louisiana.
Betty graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University. She was a teacher at Fortier High School in New Orleans for over 25 years. In 1964, she enlisted in the United States Marines as an Officer. She left active service in 1968, retiring as Captain. She served in the Marine Reserves for several years after retirement.
Betty is survived by her brother, Paul Stanley Doizé, Jr. of Pensacola, FL; and sisters, Barbara Ann Doizé Bordelon (Bruce) of Hammond, LA and Cynthia Ann Doizé Riley (Randy) of Jackson, MO. She was loved by many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, her sister-in-law, Shirley Doizé, and lifelong friend, Mary E. Ulmer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 601 North Oak Street, Hammond, Louisiana on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 11:00 am. The visitation will be held at church from 9:30 am until 11:00 am.
Interment will follow, with military honors, at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, New Orleans, Louisiana.
