Eleanor Cora Nail

Eleanor Cora Nail passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at her residence, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 98.  She was born on Thursday, January 8, 1925, in Orleans, Nebraska and resided in Arabi, LA for many years.  Eleanor was the oldest of four children and graduated in the class of 1942 in Orleans, Nebraska.  She attended nursing school at the historic St. John’s Hospital in Salina, Kansas, where she became a registered nurse.  She worked at St. Anna’s Nursing Home in New Orleans for over 50 years.  She married Wesley W. Nail of New Orleans, LA on Saturday, March 10, 1945, in Salina, Kansas.

Eleanor is survived by her beloved family. Her children, Linda Nail Mathis and William F. Nail (Patricia); grandchildren, Lori Dudenhefer (David), Heather Aulbert, Wesley P. Nail, Melanie Mathis (Mick), and Angela Krieger (Josh); great grandchildren, Zachary and Zoey Prattini, Payton (Evy), McKayla, Annabelle, and Savannah Krieger, DJ, Dominic, and Bella Dudenhefer, Madeline and Jamie Aulbert, and Emma and Taylor Nail; and future great great grandchild, Braxton Krieger (November).

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wesley Walter Nail (April 20,1980); parents, Frederick and Augusta Pentz Von Hollen; siblings, Frederick J. Von Hollen, Herbert C. Von Hollen, and JoAnn Hays (Bill); and son-in-law, Robert Mathis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Friday, October 27, 2023, beginning at 10:00 am followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm with Nightingale Nurses Honors.

Graveside Services will be held in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, Chalmette, LA at 2:30 pm.
