Edward Emile Burgard, Jr.

Edward Emile Burgard, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the age of 81. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a current resident of Madisonville, LA.

Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia Partlan Burgard, and by his parents: Edward Emile Burgard, Sr. and Jean Cambias Burgard.

He is survived by his loving children: Melanie Iverson (Michael), Wendy Maitre (Mickey), and Edward Burgard, III (Kelli). Paw-Paw’s pride and joy, his grandchildren, include Jenna Maitre, Mandy Iverson, Eddie Burgard, IV, Mickey Maitre, Jr., Brooke Burgard, and Matthew Iverson. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Burgard Charpio (Henry) and his brother, James Burgard (Dana).

Ed was an avid sportsman who loved fishing and duck hunting. He also enjoyed LSU tailgates, crawfish boils, watching all sporting events, and especially loved family time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. In his younger years, he was an incredible athlete and outstanding basketball player at St. Aloysius High School in New Orleans. Ed had a long and successful career at Southland International as a Sales  Manager.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation at St. Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville, LA on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM with a funeral mass following at 11:00 AM.

A private burial will be held at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery following the mass.
