Earline Champagne Bernabe

Earline Martha Champagne Bernabe passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, in Hammond, Louisiana on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the age of 85.  She was born on Monday, July 20, 1936, in New Orleans, LA.  She and her husband, Tommy, raised their family in Chalmette. After Hurricane Katrina, Earline moved to Ponchatoula with her children and their families.  She dearly loved her family and sorely missed her husband, Tommy, who passed away December 26, 1999.  Now they are happily together forever.

Earline is survived by her son, Thomas A. “Tab” Bernabe, Jr. and his wife, Donna; daughter, Karen Bernabe Lewis and her husband, Tony; granddaughters, Ashley Elizabeth Lewis and Brittany Lynn Marie Bernabe; grandson, Tyler Joe Lewis and his wife, Jaelyn; great-grandson, Brody James Lewis; and expected great-grandson, Benjamin Tyler Lewis.

Earline was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas A. “Tommy” Bernabe, Sr.; and parents, Martha Elizabeth Boheim and Clifford Champagne, Sr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Earline’s Life in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, LA 70454 on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 12:00 pm.  The visitation will begin at 10:00 am and continue until service time.

A private family inurnment will be held in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens mausoleum at a later date.
