Dorothy Edith “Mim” Timberlake passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2022, at her residence in Loranger, Louisiana, surrounded by her family, at the age of 80. She was born on Tuesday, July 28, 1942, at the old Mercy Hospital in New Orleans, LA and resided in Loranger for many years.
Dorothy was co-founder of American Income Tax Service with her father, W. Earl Timberlake, Jr. in 1971 and was joined by her sister, Deborah Chaisson. In 1998, she opened Dorothy E. Timberlake, LLC in Ponchatoula for accounting, notary, and tax preparation services.
Mim retired from Southeastern Louisiana University in December 2005, after having served as Secretary in the Visual Arts Department, Manager of Southeastern Oaks Apartments, and Administrative Assistant to the Department Head of Educational Leadership and Technology.
She was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous since May 18, 1981. She participated at Stephen Ministry First United Methodist Church in Hammond; also, Martha’s Ministry at the Well United Methodist Church. She spent many happy and hilarious times with the “Gator Gals” also known as her sister, Debbie Chaisson and unofficially adopted sister, Barbara Caillouet. She was also a member of Hammond Line Dancers.
Mim is survived by her beloved family: her daughters, Karen J. Hyorth (Daniel) and Carol E. Parker (Richard Brewer); loving grandchildren, Brandon Morgan, Sean Maher, Kristen Parker, Delores Brewer, and Felicia Egana; niece, Melissa Carnesi; nephews, Dustin Carnesi and Carl Joseph “CJ” Chaisson, Jr.; great nieces, Arielle Fraino and Shelby Fraino; sister, Betty A. Timberlake; and companion, Norman R. Letellier.
Preceded in death by husbands, Ernest Albert Guidry and Robert Allen “Bobby” Pollock; son, John H. Parker, III; parents, William Earl Timberlake, Jr. and Edith Hellen Schroeder; sister, Deborah T. Chaisson; and niece, Danielle Y. Fraino.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Rd, Ponchatoula, LA on Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Friday morning from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 11:00 am with Pastor Roy Hutchinson of the Living Well Christian Church presiding.
Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Hammond, LA.
