David G Alexander

David G. Alexander passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024 at his home in Ponchatoula, Louisiana at the age of 82. He was born on March 04, 1942 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident. David attended Ponchatoula High School. His biggest passion was his wife and his family. David and Gwen were married on Sunday, April 9, 1961 at French Corner Baptist Church and recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.  He was called to serve as a Deacon of the church where he was a lifelong member.  He looked forward to helping each summer with vacation bible school where he got to see his great grandchildren attend and enjoy their time at the church.

David retired from Bell South in 1983. After his retirement, he and his son, Davie, opened D & S Dozer. He and Gwen also operated a trucking service for many years. He also helped construct his grandchildren's homes and stayed very busy overseeing numerous family projects.

David is survived by his loving family: daughter and son-in-law, Susan A. Guthrie and Jimmy Guthrie; grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly David and Jessica Vicari, Summer M. and Wayne Bonnecaze, Kristan A. and Brandon Miller, Brandi A. Amond, and Tiffany A. and Chris Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Allie, Avery, Emersyn, and Kelleigh Grace Vicari, Ledger and Bennett Bonnecaze, Brisyn, Khloe, Beckham Miller, and Brody, Baleigh, and Brantley Amond; and sister-in-law,Victoria Ward Alexander. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, family members, and dear friends.

He deeply loved and missed his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Sheridan Alexander, and his son, David Mark Alexander, parents, Eva Cummings Alexander and Chester W. Alexander; and five brothers, Roy, Neal, Robert, Philip, and John; five sisters, Blanche Poorman, Betty Jo Cutrer, Dorothy Gibson, Nancy Berot and Mary Collette.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 am with Pastor Eric Hattaway presiding. The visitation will begin at 9:00 am and continue until service time.

Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Hammond, Louisiana.
