Carolyn Patricia Lovell Girling passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Lakeview Medical Center in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 84. She was born on Sunday, February 13, 1938 in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a resident of Folsom, Louisiana. Carolyn spent her youth in Ponchatoula, graduated from Ponchatoula High School, then attended LSU for a year with a concentration in Interior Design. At the age of 19, she married the love of her life, Louis, whom she had known since childhood. Carolyn and Louis then moved to Lancaster, Ca where they started their family with their first child, Susan.
Life took them then to Cocoa Beach, FL where their second child Linda was born, then on to Pascagoula, MS, completing their family with the birth of Louis, Jr. Eventually they made their way back to Louisiana where their families and hearts were.
As a young mother, Carolyn taught kindergarten, served as Girl Scout leader, and played songs at the piano for her children. When her children were grown, she served as an executive secretary at an engineering firm in New Orleans, working until her retirement. Carolyn taught her children to value family, faith, curiosity, honesty, mutual respect and hard work. She instilled in them an abiding love for music, nature, and all things beautiful.
Carolyn was a lifelong Episcopalian and, together with her late husband, remained an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in Amite, Louisiana. She and Louis achieved their long-held dream of retiring to a home in the country and were very proud of their family.
