Carlos Milovan Espinosa passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in Jefferson, LA, at the age of 53. He was born on Thursday, February 4, 1971, in Managua, Nicaragua and was a longtime resident of New Orleans.
A New Orleanian by heart, he loved the Saints and Mardi Gras the most. Through thick and thin he was a steadfast supporter and avid fan of the black and gold. When Carlos wasn’t bleeding black and gold, he was bleeding purple, green and gold! Whether it was the thrill of catching beads or dancing in the streets, Mardi Gras was a celebration that stayed with him forever.
Carlos was very generous with his time and always willing to help others. He had a soft spot for those in need. He often prepared meals for the homeless and would never turn away a hungry person that knocked on his door. When he could, he would volunteer at Bridge House/Grace House, at St. Louis King of France Parish events and was always ready to assist his neighbors.
He loved listening to music by Julio Iglesias. He enjoyed cooking for family & friends and watching Lifetime movies. He also regularly participated in the Crescent City Classic. He was quite the jokester and prankster who enjoyed making everyone laugh. He kept people rolling in laughter because he could find humor in the most mundane life circumstances. Throughout his medical difficulties, he still showed his desire to face life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Carlos stayed strong to the end and was always concerned with not worrying others.
Carlos is survived by his daughter, Ailenne Coulon (Curt); son, Michael Ayuso; mother, Indiana Espinosa; sister, Grethel May (Andrew); granddaughters, Brianna and Braelynn Coulon; and nieces, Miranda and Camille May. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends whom he loved dearly and who love and miss him very much.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Carlos Espinosa and Melida Espinosa Obando; and uncle, Jaime Fletes.
Our thanks to all of you who kept his spirits up, provided assistance, and supported us in so many ways. We owe special gratitude to the medical staff of Ochsner Medical Center’s ICU and Palliative Care units. The care we received from both teams was extraordinary and second to none, and we will be forever in their debt. Dr. Nick Cappadona, Dr. Sarah Lee, and the rest of their loving and supportive staff are the best of the best.
