Bennie Henry Daigre, Jr

Bennie Henry Daigre Jr., the beloved son of the late Bennie H. Daigre Sr. and Sarah Digangi Daigre passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 unexpectedly at his home in Hammond, Louisiana. Bennie was born on the Naval Base in Jacksonville, Florida on Wednesday, December 26, 1962.  He grew up in Bucktown, in Metairie, Louisiana.  Bennie worked for the Sewerage and Water Board for 18 years and Boyd Gaming-Treasure Chest Casino for 21 years.

Bennie enjoyed traveling with his friends, who became his family.  He was always happy to jump in the truck and go.  He enjoyed many trips to Disney World, Nashville, Memphis, Biloxi, Destin, road trips, and even a cruise.  He was part of the 10 Point Buck Hunting Club and was avid dart player.  When other dart players saw Bennie was their competition, they would often hang their heads, knowing they had no chance against him.  Bennie loved food, fish tanks, camping, fishing, and football, especially his LSU Tigers.  He never turned down a chance to go out to eat.

Bennie was very loved and will be missed by so many, especially his partner and ride-or-die/best friend of 18 years, Carla Smith; Kristi S. Perilloux, who he called his daughter every single day; Brian Perilloux, he called his son-in-law; and "Grumpy's babies", Blake and Kendall, his grandkids.  He was the best Grumpy around.  Bennie is also survived by family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

The Graveside Service will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cemetery, 19031 Louisiana Highway 15, Lettsworth, LA 70753, on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11:00 am.
